There is now diet/nutrition section in the Office of the National Coordinator’s 2017 Interoperability Standards Advisory, which highlights health IT standards in use in U.S. and hopefully will be a required component of the Health IT Certification Program in the U.S.  For more information on the interoperability standards, link here.

Consumer Health Informatics WorkGroup is a committee of the Academy’s Nutrition Informatics Committee.
The CHI has added a topic folder to the NIC large Community of Interest group Library. There you will find several materials that CHI has produced in the last 3 years, as well as two videos made by the Chair of the workgroup Catherine Frederico, MS, RDN, LDN.

Any Academy member can join the NIC Community of Interest here.  After registering, the Academy checks your membership and then gives you access.  There are over 1100 people on this COI.

Access videos - CBF or CHI.

The folder also includes the latest project of CHI, which was a scan of available smart devices of interest to dietitians in 14 categories. In just a few days, the committee found 195 devices!

The folder also contains several slide decks made for the FNCE® Genius Zone. There is a document on acronyms and another on apps that had RDNs on the development team. There is also a Tech Tips document for students.

Are you a eNCPT subscriber?  You now have free access to the Academy's EHR Toolkit!

The EHR Toolkit assists nutrition and dietetics professionals in the process of building, buying, or using an existing EHR and integrating within that EHR the Nutrition Care Process Terminology (NCPT). The EHR Toolkit provides you with tools and examples to assist you in your EHR implementation.

Instructions for how to access the EHR Toolkit can be found here.

Access to the EHR Toolkit lasts for the duration of your eNCPT subscription. The EHR Toolkit also includes a “Submit Comments” tab that allows subscribers to submit ideas for revision and comments for a six month review period.
